The Next 30 Years of Your Life

It can often be challenging to see beyond the current week if it is one that is testing you. It can feel as if this is the week you give up on your dream. However, you are not at the end, you are part of the human experience. One of ups and downs.

The trick is to use the downs to fuel the ups.

In this incessant quest for a dream, some can get too caught up in the desire to be famous. That being known in today’s world is the highest value. Just being famous is enough. That the fame is the reward for all of the hard work. But fame fades. The value of it diminishes.

What endures is the service you bring to your dream. The excellence of your craft is what elevates you and makes you truly unforgettable.

This approach and plan for the years ahead can help you focus on what is really important – the perseverance to be the best. Over time we do not remember the names of all the creatives or athletes. We only remember the ones who excelled beyond the others in their field. They pushed themselves further. Being famous was not enough. Being one of the best there has ever been was always the primary goal. They started from the same place – ground zero. But they approached the years ahead by putting their excellence and commitment ahead of the desire to be famous or rich.

In this speech by Oprah Winfrey, she addresses this approach and why the motivation is equally important as the achievement.
